The Coalition of Niger Delta Civil Society Organisations has issued a fresh demand to the Federal Government over an oil block dispute, giving the government a September 1 deadline.
The group is demanding action on issues surrounding the controversial oil asset and has warned that failure to address its concerns could trigger further mobilisation.
The development comes amid renewed attention on oil ownership, petroleum revenues and the interests of oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta.
The region remains central to Nigeria's petroleum economy, making disputes involving oil blocks particularly sensitive among host communities and civil society organisations.
Niger Delta Reporters will continue to track the position of the Federal Government and the response from Niger Delta stakeholders.
