Flooding Cuts Off Access to Three Riverine Communities in Bayelsa

Flooding triggered by heavy rainfall and rising river levels has cut off road access to three communities in Bayelsa State, local government officials confirmed on Wednesday.

Residents say the only access routes have been submerged for over a week, forcing many to rely on canoes for essential movement. Local schools in the affected areas have suspended classes indefinitely.

The State Emergency Management Agency said it was coordinating a relief response and assessing the feasibility of temporary evacuation for the worst-affected households.
