Nigeria's electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply sector recorded another contraction in the second quarter of 2026, according to new economic data.
The sector reportedly declined by 10.63 per cent year-on-year in real terms during the quarter.
The decline came despite the wider Nigerian economy recording 4.43 per cent growth during the same period.
The latest figures have renewed concerns about the country's power supply challenges and the ability of the electricity sector to support industrial growth.
For households and businesses already struggling with energy costs, reliable electricity remains one of the most important economic issues confronting the country.
Niger Delta Reporters will continue to report on developments in Nigeria's power sector.
