Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has charged the newly appointed General Officer Commanding the Nigerian Army formation responsible for the state to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure.
The governor's message comes amid continuing concerns over the security of strategic assets in the oil-producing state.
Rivers hosts several nationally important facilities, including petroleum installations, waterways and other infrastructure critical to Nigeria's economy.
Fubara's call places renewed emphasis on collaboration between the state government, military and other security agencies.
Niger Delta Reporters will monitor the security measures being introduced across Rivers State.
