Eight Farmers Killed, Five Injured in Fresh Sokoto Bandit Attack

By Nigerian Niger Delta Reporters

SOKOTO — No fewer than eight farmers have reportedly been killed while five others sustained gunshot injuries in a fresh attack on Ghandi community in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The attack occurred amid heightened security operations against bandit groups operating in parts of the state.

Reports indicate that the assault may have been carried out as a reprisal following recent security operations in the area.

Residents were reportedly thrown into panic as armed attackers targeted members of the farming community.

The incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of farmers in parts of northern Nigeria, particularly as communities depend heavily on access to farmland for their livelihoods.

Security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to identify those responsible and prevent further attacks.

The latest incident adds to continuing concerns over insecurity, rural displacement and food production in parts of northern Nigeria.

Nigerian Niger Delta Reporters extends its condolences to the families of the victims and will continue monitoring the security situation.
