Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian Army to establish the headquarters of an Army division in Delta State.
The governor's request is linked to the need to strengthen security within the state and the wider Niger Delta.
Delta occupies a strategically important position in Nigeria's South-South region, with major roads, waterways, communities and economic infrastructure requiring effective security.
The proposed military headquarters, if approved, could increase the Army's operational presence in the state.
Niger Delta Reporters will monitor the response from the Presidency and Nigerian Army.
