A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has issued an interim order restraining the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority from shutting down or interfering with the operations of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
The order followed a legal action instituted by Dangote Petroleum Refinery Nigeria Limited after the company challenged a regulatory directive concerning the loading and truck-out of petroleum products.
The court's intervention could have significant implications for Nigeria's petroleum sector, particularly amid the country's efforts to increase domestic refining and reduce dependence on imported petroleum products.
Further proceedings will determine the next stage of the dispute.
Niger Delta Reporters will continue monitoring the case and its possible impact on fuel supply and the downstream petroleum market.
