Former Bayelsa State Governor and former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in a major political development coming from the Niger Delta.
Sylva's resignation has immediately generated reactions within political circles in Bayelsa State and across the South-South, particularly as Nigeria gradually moves towards the 2027 general elections.
The former governor also reportedly wrote the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and called on Nigerians to reject President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration at the 2027 presidential election.
The development is expected to further reshape political calculations in Bayelsa and the wider Niger Delta, where political alliances ahead of 2027 are already becoming increasingly fluid.
Niger Delta Reporters will continue to monitor reactions from the APC, Sylva's political associates and other stakeholders in the region.
